Court stays release of `Orunal Varum' till May 31

Kozhikode: The court stayed the release of the film `Orunal Varum' written by Srinivasan and directed by T K Rajeev Kumar with actor Mohan lal in the lead role, till May 31. The film was all set for release on May 13. Kozhikode district judge M P Ismail issued the stay order while considering a petition by drama artist K V Vijayan from Kudathayi alleging that Srinivasan robbed his story . The case will be considered again on May 31 and Srinivasan, producer Maniyanpillai Raju and the director ahve been summoned to be present in the court. In his petition Vijayan who is a teacher in Muakkam Don Bosco School of Technologies, stated that his screenplay `Ee Kaliveetil Ninnu' has been stolen by Srinivasan. In 2009, he gave the screenplay to Srinivasan at the Kozhikode Kadavu resort to read and if possible to make a film. The story of `Ee Kaliveetil Ninuu ' briefs the problem faced by a man who is planning to construct a house.

After keeping it for somedays Srinivasan returned the same saying that the screenplay is not good enough to make a film and he won't get producers too. Later this screenplay was published through a publisher last February. He said he had approached the court when he heard that the film will be released on May 14. He also incurred a loss of Rs 2 lakh for the same, he claimed.
